Being an uncoordinated teenager, I did have a minor fender bender, but did not know I had injured my neck; I was more worried about the dent in my mother’s car and the elderly (he had to be at least 50) gentleman I had side swiped. Being athletic, the inevitable knee injury had to have upset my structural balance, but like most healthy individuals, I kept on going. For years I suffered with headaches and sinus problems. They were not severe, so I just put up with them and I never thought twice about the fact that these two previous injuries may be related to my symptoms. Then I developed the nasty, stinging pain down the back of my buttock and leg.

I knew of people, who used chiropractic to "pop" their backs into place, so when a friend suggested I see his chiropractic, I agreed to go. This mild mannered doctor had an associate do my exam and x-rays, but even before he saw the x-ray, he described my spine’s misalignment. When the x-rays were developed, I was exactly as he had described, crooked! He worked on my back for a period of time and low and behold the pain was relieved.

Some time later after having some dental work done I developed stabbing facial pain (trigeminal neuralgia). After being referred to an eye, ear and throat specialist for assessment, a CAT scan of my head revealed a sinus problem and a deviated septum. Surgery was recommended. Looking for a more conservative approach and not liking the side effects of sinus medicine, I mentioned my problem to my chiropractor. He suggested that he evaluate my neck and after a period of neck adjustment, my head cleared up and the facial pain went away. Now that was something!! It solidified the power of chiropractic care for me and I continued under care for a period of years. The physical stresses of my career in management in the state system were tolerated better when I stayed under chiropractic care.

After 23 years working with high school age children I decided to pursue a career in Chiropractic. My service to the community started with teaching high school mathematics and being advisor to several yearbooks. During this time I individualized math programs, for those who had missed the basics and developed the resource room setting before that program became a part of the special education programs. Obtaining a Masters in Education and supervisory certifications, I worked with innovative educational programs and eventually became the superintendent of a residential group center for at risk youth. This led to promotion to regional supervisor to teachers of 16 facilities.

A series of events let to my seeking a career change and chiropractic was on the top of my list of options. Having always loved to study and learn new things, when I was successful at taking Chemistry, the first of a large number of science prerequisites to entering chiropractic school, I was on my way. My parents lived in Phenix City, AL at the time so considering a move to Georgia to attend Life Chiropractic College allowed me to complete my education at a good school and spend time with them in their last years.

I moved to Georgia in 1991 to begin my courses at Life. While in school, I was adjusted by the Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic Technique. This is a gentle, specific upper cervical adjustment, which stabilized my spine and brought me improved vitality and focus. This technique has become the primary focus of our practice. I know that the process of staying balanced through this wonderful technique has minimized the wear and tear on my spine and preserves my health.

At 60, I feel better in many ways than I did in my 30’s before I started under regular chiropractic care. We have developed, in our clinic, recommendations, based on my personal experience and the successes of our patients over the years that help all of our patients to achieve success in dealing with health challenges. In addition to spinal adjustments, these include modifying activities of daily living, exercise, water consumption and we provide resources nutrition and nutrients. Standard Process whole food supplements are available at our clinic and complementary "Symptom Survey" is available to help patients sort through the maize of which vitamins and minerals they need to support good health.

Thank you for visiting our website. I look forward to meeting you in person and learning how we may be of service to you. Call or email us so we can arrange a time to evaluate your health challenge.

Krutika Desai, B.S., D.C.

Tyrone Chiropractor, Dr. Krutika Desai

Dr. Krutika Desai immigrated to the United States from Zambia, a landlocked country in Africa after completing high school there. The search for a “better” tertiary education prompted me to leave behind my family and country and make a leap into the unknown. College always has its set of challenges but for me it was two fold since I had a new country and culture to get acquainted with and my family was thousands and thousands miles away (24hr plane ride). It was a lot to get used to and a tough challenge but the reward was well worth the challenge and Lexington, Kentucky became my new home.

Dr. Krutika Desai has a Bachelors degree in Biology from the University of Kentucky. After graduating I discovered Chiropractic when I realized I did not want to pursue a career in Science. The health field always interested me and I liked what I read about Chiropractic; hence, I decided to enroll in Chiropractic school.

Since graduating with honors (magna cum laude) from Life University in June of 2005 and having time to reflect I have realized that, “I came into this profession by accident but it is no accident that I am here.”

Dr. Desai has seen vast improvements in peoples’ health and her own in a safe and natural way.  I enjoy practicing Chiropractic and having the privilege of helping people to get to their state of optimal well being in a natural, harmless way.

I am currently enhancing my Chiropractic skills by doing post graduate work and am board eligible for the Atlas Orthogonal Technique.
